Prepping for your tattoo
Before the appointment
Look after your skin (at all times) but try and stay hydrated leading up to your appointment as well as reducing alcohol intake in the leading days. Alcohol thins the blood and can cause issues during the tattoo as well as healing
Keep your skin moisturised especially if you have dry skin. Take extra care if you are in the sun, we cannot tattoo sunburnt skin, so keep the area you want tattooed out of the sun.
Sleep
Make sure you get plenty of sleep the night before your tattoo. If your body is tired it might make your appointment more uncomfortable as well as making you more worn down
Eat and Drink
It's important to make sure you eat before the appointment. Please don't come to the appointment on an empty stomach its not fair on the body and will cause extra stress. You are more than welcome to bring snacks and drinks with you, especially for longer sessions.
Avoid Caffeine
Caffeine unfortunately thins the blood so try to reduce your intake on the day or switch to decaf.
Dress appropriately
Wear comfortable clothes on the day, something that gives easy access to the tattoo site. For back and spine tattoos bring a hoodie or button shirt than can be worn backwards. If you are unsure just contact your artist.
Shower
Have a shower prior to the appointment just to ensure the skin is nice and clean.
Distractions!
Regardless the length of your appointment you are welcome to bring a distraction with you! Whether you want to bring a book, listen to a podcast/audiobook on the speakers or headphones (no judgement. You are also welcome to put your own music on too. I usually have my iPad on so you can watch something. This is your tattoo at the end of the day and we want you to be comfortable during your appointment and have an enjoyable experience.
